I tend to go for a drugstore option when it comes to facial cleanser. My main requirement is something mild that will not strip too much oil out off my dry skin. I picked up L’Oreal Paris’ cleanser and make up remover many months ago when they were on sale somewhere in Sweden. This range from is aimed for dry skin people, so I thought I should give it a go.
The cleanser has similar texture and consistency as Cetaphil. The good thing is it is non-scented. Sadly, it contains SLS, which is something I try to avoid in a face wash. It is labeled as a “no soap” cleanser, which I thought means “no SLS”, but WRONG! Another thing is it leaves a light film on my skin afterwards. You know, the kind of slimy soap feeling that just won’t go away no matter how many times you rinse it.
The makeup remover is basically another micellar water. Since I don’t wear makeup on a regular basis, it is suffice for taking off sunscreen. However, comparing this to the Bioderma and the Nivea micellar waters, it doesn’t give the “refreshed/soothing” feeling after used, which is not a big thing but something nice to have. The real downside of this product is the packaging. It is very difficult for me to control how much to dispense the product. I always get too much product on a cotton pad, which is quite wasteful.
Overall, I will not be repurchasing the cleanser. I know Cetaphil is not widely available in Sweden so this can be a dupe for those who want to use Cetaphil. I might buy the micellar water again if I can’t find any alternative which is very unlikely in today’s market.
Now I’m using the lovely Pai cream cleanser, but I have to order it from overseas when it runs out. Can you recommend some good non-SLS facial cleanser?
P.S. I purchased these duo myself, but it was a long time ago so I don’t remember how much or where I bought them (but definitely in Sweden).
